Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash adds scene extension and frame controls for video generation

Google announced Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash on 27 August 2026. Its controls include scene extensions up to a cumulative 40 seconds, first and last frame interpolation, 360p previews and 4K upscaling.

Developer access is through the Gemini API in AI Studio and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Flow access is listed for paid Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers globally. The launch is a video model update, rather than an ordinary text-chat endpoint.

Our assessment: extra controls help only when the intended shot is clear. Write a short brief describing the subject, action and finish frame before generating a scene. Decide which details must remain consistent. A product demonstration needs a different review standard from an abstract background for a title sequence.

Use a draft to settle the composition and movement before producing the delivery version. Compare the result against the brief, including details that are easy to overlook at normal playback speed. Check hands, labels and object relationships across the whole scene. For a continuation, inspect the join and the later frames rather than judging only the opening.

Keep the approved reference material and generation settings with the final asset. Review the finished export in its intended aspect ratio, with captions or other overlays present. Calculate cost per accepted clip after discarded attempts and editing, because a cheap individual generation may still produce an expensive production workflow.
